“Fear around sluttiness borders on the belief that women having sex for pleasure will no longer need traditional relationships because they’re getting satisfaction outside of committed relationships. And the fear is valid! Women don’t need to be in traditional or heteronormative relationships to get their kicks — and that’s a good thing. It gives us the space to experiment, to feel less pressure finding The One, and it allows us to make better and more informed decisions about the people we ultimately want to be with.” ~Samita “I’m the Shit” Mukhopadhyay
I promise you I was *crushed* when I read “He’s Just Not That Into You.” Not because I didn’t know some of that crap on an intuitive level, but because I just felt like, man, there has to be a better source of dating advice for women. “Sex in the City”? OK. Warmer. They’re all white except for that one time, at band camp, when Jennifer Hudson was renting purses, right? (Wait, that was the movie.) Anyway, after being barraged by a lifetime of crap like The Rules, The Game, all that, Samhita Mukhopadhyay swoops in with a fly ass cape to save the day. Ladies, Outdated is a wonderfully smart, funny, real-life chit chat with a homegirl (and some of her friends) who care about you breaking free of the romantic industrial complex. Please buy it and read it and share it with your friends (or buy them copies.)
